Nordic Games vince all'asta i diritti su Darksiders e degli altri titoli di THQ

Sembra che Crytek sia stata sfortunata nella sua rincorsa all’acquisizione dei diritti sull’IP Darksiders.Joystiq riporta che Nordic Games ha vinto l’ultima asta, comprando con una cifra pari a 4,9 milioni di dollari i diritti su Darksiders, Red Faction, MX, ed altre IP minori e Software su licenza.

Non nota ai più, Nordic Games è una compagnia che ha pubblicato recentemente Painkiller: Hell and Damnation d ArcaniA: The Complete Tale.

Nella stessa asta, Gearbox, si è accaparrata per 1, 35 milioni di dollari i diritti sul franchise Homeworld, mentre 505 Games ha acquisito quelli di Drawn to Life per $300,000.

Lars Wingefors, CEO di Nordic Games, ha dichiarato in merito all’acquisizione:

Innanzitutto siamo molto felici di questa acquisizione, che decreta un punto di svolta per tutto il Nordic Games Group. A lungo termine vogliamo cooperare con i creatori originali, o coi migliori sviluppatori, per lavorare a sequel o contenuti aggiuntivi per questi tioli. Un punto veramente importante per noi è di non buttarci immeditamente in diversi progetti di sviluppo multi-milionari, ma di ponderare con cautela tutte le possibilità, e segliere con criterio lo sviluppo degli IP acquisiti.

Reinhard Pollice, Production and Business Development Manager di Nordic Games, ha successivamente dichiarato che c’è l’intenzione di continuare il franchise Darksiders. Per meglio affrontare questa impresa, chiede ai fans cosa hanno gradito in Darksiders II, e cosa no. E quale tipo di gioco vorrebbero come sequel.

Al momento però è presto per parlare di Darksiders III, visto che non c’è nemmeno un team di sviluppo per il progetto.
